This week has been quite challenging. I’m learning about website building and hosting for my new online business, and it’s been a steep learning curve.
Deciding on the business idea was easy—I wanted to turn our beekeeping hobby into a source of income. I’m truly fascinated by bees; they’re so enjoyable to watch and lead such intriguing lives. For example, did you know that it takes nectar from about 2 million flowers to produce just one pound of honey? (A single bee typically visits 50–100 flowers per foraging trip, but the collective effort of the hive is incredible.) These tiny creatures are real powerhouses!
I thought creating the website itself would be straightforward, but I ran into several obstacles that left me feeling stumped and frustrated for a few days. Still, by persevering, I’ve realized we can accomplish almost anything when we set our minds to it. You have to be willing to finish what you start and pay the price, in my case, that meant many hours of trial and error, doing and redoing things until they worked.
My site is finally coming together, and I’m really excited to get it live. We’ve also chosen a hosting provider: Linode. I already use them for my family’s sites, so I’m comfortable with their platform and enjoy working with them.
I’m still a little nervous about whether I’m truly ready to launch my own business, but at the same time, I’m thrilled about the possibilities ahead.
